Make your own Homemade Real Non-GMO Vitamin C Gummies, and stay away from artificial ingredients. Vitamin C is necessary to support a strong immune system and maintain good cardiovascular health. It promotes eye health and helps prevent colds, and it is also a great flu-fighter. These Vitamin C Gummies are made from fruits that contain lots of naturally-occurring vitamin C.
Real Non-GMO Vitamin C Gummies
Did you know that most supplements are made synthetically from GMO corn? Think about vitamin C for example. How do they make it? They use corn syrup to synthesize ascorbic acid. If you have a multivitamin at home check it out. Look at the labels. Most vitamins are not made from real food sources. Pretty disappointing isn’t it? They also contain lots of preservatives, added sugars, and in many cases artificial sweeteners.
I like to research everything. My husband thinks I am a little paranoid, but I can’t help it. There is always something new to learn and improve when it comes to our diets. Lately, I have been thinking a lot about vitamins. Even if you eat healthy, supplementation is essential in a world where industrial agriculture have depleted soils. Studies reveal that the nutritional values in food have declined significantly over the past 70 years.
The Best Vitamin C Supplements
The only multivitamins I have found in the market that are non-gmo and made from whole foods are Garden of Life Vitamins. This brand is a great alternative if you cannot make your own. They are also available for women and men. The problem with the kids multivitamins? they come in chewable teddy bears and not gummies. They are pretty expensive too. My 5 year old is not really excited about them but if you offer her gummies, oh then it is a different story. Kids love gummies! Please see Homemade Healthy Gummies for more ideas on how to make your own natural vitamins.
Choose A High Quality Gelatin
A good gelatin is really important, this is why I recommend Perfect Supplements Bovine Gelatin . 100% beef gelatin (Collagen Protein) sourced EXCLUSIVELY from pasture raised (Grass Fed) cows. The collagen in this type of gelatin, along with the many amino acids help regulate our metabolisms, have anti-inflammatory properties, strengthens hair and nails, and regulates hormones.
Natural Vitamin C Gummies
I made these delicious gummies juicing organic clementines and oranges. I used my cold press juicer. Because they don’t produce as much heat, cold press juicers keep more of the fresh ingredients’ nutrients intact. You can just juice one fruit or a combination, it is up to you. A clementine has about 36.1 mg of vitamin c and an orange 51.1 mg. I also added raw honey .
The molds I used for this recipe are the Freshware Super Star Gummy Mold and Freshware Toy, Car, Block and Bear Gummy Mold. Aren’t they adorable? They are made of good quality silicone and are so easy to use and clean. You don’t even need to oil the molds, the gummies will come right out! Add a little vanilla extract for more flavor if you would like, it is totally optional and based on your personal taste.
Why Is Vitamin C Important For Fighting Colds?
There are many studies confirming the benefits of taking vitamin C regularly for fighting colds. Vitamin C boosts the immune system and it is a great antioxidant. Even Dr. Fauci recommends it (SOURCE).
A very encouraging study showed that taking at least 200 mg of vitamin C per day did appear to reduce the duration of cold symptoms by an average of 8% in adults and 14% in children, which translated to about one less day of illness. “That could be important for some people, since the common cold causes 23 million lost days of work each year,” says Dr. Bistrian.
If you want the benefits of vitamin C, you’ll need to consume it every day, and not just at the start of cold symptoms. And it goes without saying that consuming it from natural sources is way better (SOURCE).
If you need to add more vitamin C to this recipe, like for example if you are fighting a cold, I recommend adding Organic Vitamin C Powder. Each tablespoon has 500mg of vitamin C and it comes from organic whole fruits. Just as a reference, most multivitamins that need to be taken daily contain 60mg of vitamin C.
PrintHomemade Vitamin C Gummies
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Total Time: 20 minutes
- Yield: 45 1x
Description
These Homemade Real Non-GMO Vitamin C Gummies are made from fruits that contain lots of naturally-occurring vitamin C.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups juiced oranges and clementines. (You can just use one fruit or both, a cup is usually 4–5 medium oranges)
- 4 tablespoons plain gelatin
- 2–4 tablespoons raw honey (use 4 if you like them extra sweet)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract *optional
- 1 tablespoon Vitamin C powder *optional if you want extra vitamin c
Instructions
- Pour juice into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin over the top and let sit for a couple of minutes. Let the gelatin “bloom” (it will get wrinkly looking on the surface ). When all the gelatin is absorbed, whisk to combine.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat on the stove. Let the liquid warm, but not boil. Let all the gelatin dissolve. It takes about 3-5 minutes to make the liquid really smooth and thin.
- Add the honey and if using, the vanilla extract and vitamin c powder. Mix well.
- Pour into your molds or loaf pan and refrigerate for about 2-3 hours.
- Remove from molds. If you used the loaf pan, cut your gelatin into small squares.
- Store in the refrigerator- they will last 2-3 weeks.
Notes
This recipes will make about 45 gummies using my molds.
If you are fighting a cold and need extra vitamin c, add Organic Vitamin C Powder. Each tablespoon has 500mg of vitamin C . Check the amount you need based on your age and weight. You can find a great guide for kid and adult dosages HERE.

Hiya,
I am based in New Zealand, and super excited to try your gummies!
You mention that you research everything … thought I d ask your opinion. I m battling to find a non gmo vitamin C. Sales person at the health shop tried to convince me that although “non gmo” is not on the label that it still is non gmo. I don’t know if I have just lost the plot completely but I can not accept that as the truth. She said all vitamins are non gmo …. What do you think?
Secondly, have you heard of DoTerra Essential oils? Wondering what you thought of it, if you have.
Thanks in advance
Creative And Healthy Fun Food says
Thank you for your message Hiya. Most vitamins are unfortunately made with gmos. You can look in my post where I recommend a natural vitamin C available at Amazon. Yes, I’ve heard about DoTerra essential oils and they are awesome! I love them! Hope this helps.
Tim says
Fruits and vegetables are the best sources of vitamin C. For example a cup of chopped guavas contains a whopping 344 mg of Vitamin C.

Hi thank you for your recipe , I can’t wait to try it , unfortunately in England you can not find a good grass fed organic beef gelatin powder yet so all I have is organic pork gelatine sheets , Can I still make it? How much will 4 tablespoons of your gelatin be on the sheets and what will be the procedure as off or course they are different .
Thank you and hope to hear from you soon so I can get started .
Isabel
Creative And Healthy Fun Food says
Hi Isabel, thank you for your comment. I really don’t know anything about the pork sheets. What about just plain gelatin. The one that comes in small boxes at the supermarket? It’s not grass-fed but you can still make your gummies with it. Do you have that in England?
Erika says
I think u meant to say 1/2 teaspoon of vitamin C powder. I use this powder so I know half teaspoon will give u 500mg of vitamin C. U wrote 1 tablespoon.
Erika says

Hi, I am not sure if it will work.

Hello,
I would like to use Ginseng and Ginko in these gummies to help my sons hyperactivity.
Have you tried that or seen any articles about ginseng and ginko in gummies?
Thanks!
Creative And Healthy Fun Food says
Yes, I’ve heard it’s really good. Good idea to try it with the gummies!
Ani_mal says
Amanda, hyperactivity is connected with nervous system. Have a read about lugol’s iodine 5% and maybe give it a go.
Amanda says
Would I just give my kiddos (5 next month and 2.5) one gummie per day? Also I have a hand juicer, do I just need the juice or the whole fruit?
Creative & Healthy Family says
Hi, you can make them according to what the recommended dose of vitamin C is for kids. Check out this link: https://www.livestrong.com/article/317681-vitamin-c-dosage-for-kids/ A hand juicer is fine and you don’t need the whole fruit. You can use just fruits or the natural supplement I recommend in one of the links. Hope this helps!

Hi! How about the heat? Will it destroy the vitamins?
Creative & Healthy Family says
There’s always some loss of nutrients when you heat but it is not super high heat or a long time so I wouldn’t worry about it. Hope this helps 😉

OMG! My first try at gummy bears and so easy, so much fun and good for my granddaughters and my family. I ordered the raw honey you suggested and the gelatin and I also ordered the mini gummy bears mold you mentioned in your update with the droppers. They came out so darn cute and tasted great. No need to oil the molds. Can’t wait to give some to my triplet 5 year old granddaughters. They will love them. I used pure juice (Naked brand) so healthy treat.
Creative & Healthy Family says
That’s awesome! So happy to know you liked the recipe. Haven’t made it in a while so this was a great reminder!
Hartman says
Fruits and veggies are best , but even our produce sadly contains less than in the past due to overuse of the land from the companies producing. To get what you need a suppliment is usually necessary. Juice Plus+ is a great one to use!
Creative Healthy Family says
Thank you for your comment. I agree, this is why supplementation is super important.
Vanessa says
Will this recipe work with other fruit juice? Like cantaloupe or watermelon? I already made your recipe and loved it
Creative Healthy Family says
Thank you so much for your comment. Yes, I don’t see why not 🙂
Susanne says
How many gummy’s should be eaten daily? If I make these for my kids how many should I give them?
Creative Healthy Family says
Hi Susanne, it all depends if you are using only the vitamin c from the fruits to make the gummies or if you are adding a vitamin C supplement as well. Check the daily dosage for kids and adults in the supplement and follow that indication. When I make them with just fruits we eat a small amount but there is really no limit. Hope this helps.
Sandra says
Thanks for this post! Our dentist recently told us to stay away from gummies, since they can cause cavities. So we switched to Hiya vitamins (www.hiyahealth.com) and the kids are loving their vitamins from Hiya Health so far. What’s your view on gummies causing cavities for kids?
Creative Healthy Family says
Hi, thanks for your comment. I really think gummies are not the best for teeth but if your kids are good at brushing their teeth then I think it is ok.
Erin Hedin says
Can you freeze these ? It made alot and I dont know if we will take them all in 2 to 3 weeks. Thank you 🙂

Looks like a great recipe. Cant wait to use it. I need to change one ingredient. I can’t use gelatin I need to use Guar Gum or the equivalent gluten free. Any suggestions on how much to use?
I’m also adding a vitamin C powder.
Thanks,
Mary

Hi, thank you for your message. Yes, you can substitute but I would not be able to tell you the exact amount because I never tried it 🙁 What about the directions on the product for substitution? Hope this helps!
