Tackling your credit doesn’t have to be intimidating! It is empowering to know where you stand and take steps to get to your optimal financial health. I will show you how to Conquer Your Credit And Achieve Your Financial Goals.
When I moved to the US, this whole credit score concept was new to me. I was very young. I was a college student in a small town in Illinois. It was easy for me to fall for credit card traps and get in debt. It took years for me to understand the importance of a good credit score, taking good care of my finances, and being responsible.
When you become financially healthy, you give yourself the freedom to feel confident about your money.
I used to have debt. Lots of it. And make minimum monthly payments never seeing my balances go down. That is exactly how credit cards maximize their profits. High interest rates, a lot of debt, and a very poor credit score. I was going nowhere. I had a lot of anxiety thinking how I was going to get out of this horrible financial chaos. But one day, I decided to get informed. And learned about personal finances.
It is crucial for your well-being – today and in the long run – to have financial knowledge. Knowledge is power!
Your credit plays a big role in your future and has tremendous impact on your ability to achieve life’s milestones (for example, owning a home, buying a car, or starting a business). If you do not take care of your finances, you don’t save, and you are irresponsible with credit cards, you will never be able to achieve your goals.
I started saving a little each month. I also worked a second job and was able to save extra income. I was single at that time and I didn’t have many expenses or responsibilities, so I took advantage of the situation. I kept my car until I paid it off, and felt so great not having a car payment anymore. I now drive a 2008 Acura SUV. The car looks and runs perfect. And I do not need a new one. I don’t need a new car payment for now. I can save that money for my future. For my kids’ future. For my financial goals.
Knowing your credit score helps you assess where you stand and how close or far you are from creating the life you want. From there, you can make smart financial decisions to keep your score healthy or improve it.
This is how I built a great credit history. Paying my debts on time and trying to pay off my balances. This is how I was able to buy my first condo with a very low interest rate. And I even had savings for a big downpayment which also helped tremendously.
A few years ago, I quit my full-time job. I got pregnant with my second child, and decided it was the perfect time to start something new. To change careers. The main reason why I never felt anxious about leaving my job was the fact that I had money saved. I also made some investments with my savings that were giving me a monthly income in return. I felt confident and ready to start something new. And you see, my dream of becoming a blogger is now a reality.
This is why I would like to tell you that it is never too late to start saving. Don’t wait! This is the time to overcome your hesitation and conquer your credit! If you have dreams and goals then go for them! I had to sacrifice some years of my life not being able to travel, go out, or buy new stuff; but it definitely paid off!
