Ingredients for Flag Fruit Pizza With Oatmeal Crust:
1/2 cup softened butter
1/4 cup brown sugar (my favorite is Sugar In The Raw )
1 cup flour
1/4 cup oats
1/4 tsp.salt
Instructions:
Mix butter, flour, oats and sugar together. Mixture will be a little crumbly. Spread on a small pizza pan on top of Parchment Paper and bake at 375 degrees for 10-12minutes.
Watch it to make sure it doesn’t over bake. Let crust cool.
For The Filling:
about 2-3 cups plain greek yogurt (24 ounce container)
4 tspns honey (aprox) I use Raw Honey because it is pure and natural honey.
A rich, full fat greek yogurt works best. One of my favorite greek yogurts is the Fage Total Greek Yogurt It is thick and rich and perfect for the fruit pizza.
You can buy a honey or vanilla version or just plain and add honey. Mix plain yogurt and honey. Taste it and use more honey if you prefer a sweeter fruit pizza.
For Decoration:
About 2 cups of blueberries, a cup sliced strawberries and 1 or 2 sliced bananas. First, spread the yogurt on top of the cooled crust. Then start placing the fruit and decorate it as the US flag. Let it set in the fridge for about 1 hour.
Get the family involved in the process and make it a fun activity.
Ready!
I got this idea from Sabrina Brini with some little changes, and the crust idea from Amy Engberson.
