I love this one by Jodi Picoult, don’t you? Moms definitely have some of the world’s toughest materials running through their spine! At the same time, though, they know how to be soft and gentle with us.
2. The bond between mothers and daughters
“As mothers and daughters, we are connected with one another. My mother is the bones of my spine, keeping me straight and true. She is my blood, making sure it runs rich and strong. She is the beating of my heart. I cannot now imagine a life without her.” – Kristin Hannah, Summer Island
Kristin Hannah beautifully describes the intense bond between moms and daughters. Mom lends us some of that steel spine when we feel like we can’t stand up for ourselves. When our heart breaks, hers beats for us. Perhaps most important of all, when the day comes that she’s no longer with us, we take solace in the fact that she’s never really gone because a part of her always runs through our veins.
3. She is our greatest teacher
“Mama was my greatest teacher, a teacher of compassion, love and fearlessness. If love is sweet as a flower, then my mother is that sweet flower of love.”

4. Our moms sacrifice so much for us
We’ve talked about how much parents sacrifice for their kids in the past, but have you ever really thought about just how deep those sacrifices go? 5. Only a mother can forgive anything
Mothers can forgive anything! Tell me all, and be sure that I will never let you go, though the whole world should turn from you.
—Louisa May Alcott
No matter how much we mess up as kids, mom always forgives us. We’d be hard pressed to find anyone else on this planet that puts up with as much as mom does! Now would be a great time to call her up and say you’re sorry for breaking her favorite vase or coming in past curfew all those times.
6. Mom raises us up to higher ground
“Be a Mother who is committed to loving her children into standing on higher ground than the environment surrounding them. Mothers are endowed with a love that is unlike any other love on the face of the earth.”

If there’s one thing all moms have in common, it’s our desire to see our kids lead better lives than we did. Our moms lift us up and elevate us, always striving to help us overcome limitations that could hold us back. Without her, very few of us would be the people we are today.
7. Our moms are true warriors
I think this may be one of my top 3 favorite quotes that perfectly describe how much mom means to us. Our mothers are absolutely warriors, helping us learn how to change the world and- hopefully- leave it a better place than we found it.
Just one note about this quote, though, I’m NOT saying that ONLY women can raise children, and only mothers can raise them correctly. This isn’t meant to take away anything from all of the dads raising their kids, or imply anything about gender identity.
8. Mom can make even the smallest things seem miraculous
Mom could make small things seem miraculous. That was her talent.
—Matthew Quick
Moms have a unique talent for taking the seemingly tiniest things and making them seem like a miracle, especially when those things came from us. Moms are life’s number one cheerleader without uniforms. – Richelle E. Goodrich
This goes along with the last two. Simply put, moms are the world’s greatest cheerleaders, even if they don’t wear the uniforms. Given how uncomfortable some of those uniforms look, I bet mom is just fine with not wearing one!
11. A mother’s love knows no boundaries
Okay, so this one is a smidge darker, but what do you expect from the greatest murder mystery writer of all time? It’s true, though. There’s a reason why they call us “mama bears” when our kids are wronged. Mom would go to the ends of the earth to protect us, and nothing can stand in her way.
