Ok, let’s face it: being pregnant is not easy! You start your first trimester feeling so emotional, excited, and also very anxious. There are so many things you want to learn if you are a first time mom, or other things you would like to improve or do differently if this is your second or third pregnancy. During this emotional time, your body is also working hard preparing to care for your baby, and this is the reason why you feel exhausted all the time.
Taking good care of your body should be the number one priority during pregnancy. Nutrition plays such an important role in a healthy pregnancy. Try to eat as healthy as you can, limit sweets and exercise regularly. Just walking for 20-30 minutes a day helps. If you are interested in nutrition and foods that are great for pregnancy, please see: 7 Superfoods For Pregnancy.
The good news is there are so many products out there that can help you during your pregnancy. The best part: there are natural and safe for you and your baby. With my first pregnancy almost 5 years ago, I started learning about these products. So this time around I was better prepared and tried a few more things. Let me tell you there is good stuff out there for us pregnant ladies!
And so I am made a list of My Favorite Pregnancy Products and how they can help:
1.- Prenatals.- It is so important to supplement with a good prenatal multi-vitamin. You should take it before, during and after pregnancy while you are breastfeeding. Even if you are a very healthy eater, your body needs tons of vitamins and minerals to grow a baby. Taking a prenatal vitamin will ensure you are getting everything you need. I have tried many brands but my favorite and most natural one is Garden of Life mykind Organics Prenatal. 100% natural and contains whole foods from organic farms (over 30 fruits, vegetables, and herbs). These vitamins are also super gentle on the stomach. You need to take three a day, one with each meal for best results. I also recommend a good prenatal DHA supplement. DHA is important throughout pregnancy for optimal brain development, particularly in the third trimester when major brain growth occurs. I like Nordic Naturals
2.-Creams to prevent stretch marks.- Oh stretch marks…….I think almost all pregnant women are terrified about them. Your body expands and then, after delivery, you see those awful lines. How can you prevent them? This is my number one brand recommendation: Mustela. I used this cream with my first pregnancy and I have “0” stretch marks from it. This time I also tried Mama Mio Tummy Rub Butter and was very pleased too. My absolute favorite Mustela product: Mustela Stretch Marks Double Action
.You know how sensitive your sense of smell can get and most creams have really strong fragrances. These two brands are perfect because their fragrances are so gentle and won’t make you nauseous at all. Try also Mama Mio Gorgeous Glow balancing facial swipes
to balance sensitive, hormonal or misbehaving skin.
3.- Preggie Pops.- A must for pregnancy nausea. With my first pregnancy I didn’t have any morning sickness but this time OMG, it was bad! I looked for natural products that could help and thankfully, I found these Pops. They are made of ginger, peppermint, and lavender to help with nausea. Safe and gentle herbs that have been proven to help soothe the stomach. These Preggie Pops come in great fruit flavors and are super yummy too. Both pops and Drops
are wonderful. I had to carry a few always in my purse during the first trimester, and let me tell you they really work.
4.- Ginger Tea.- Another great morning sickness reliever. Ginger has a long history as a cure for upset stomachs. It helps with digestion and it is a natural anti-inflammatory. Another wonderful benefit of ginger is that it will help prevent colds. You don’t want to get sick while you are pregnant! After dinner, when my stomach felt really upset,I had a cup of Ginger Honey Crystals and I was able to sleep better. The taste is kind of strong but if you like ginger then you will be fine.
5.- The Belly Armour.- During pregnancy, we are afraid of all the things that could possible harm our babies. Radiation is one big concern and this products can block radiation giving you peace of mind. They have blankets, breastfeeding covers and also t-shirts and belly bands to protect your baby. I love my blanket and I use it when I am working on the computer or using my i-phone. Belly Armor maternity apparel and accessories safely, conveniently and effectively shield against 99.9% of everyday radiation.
6.- Pregnancy Books.- Information, information, information. The more you read, the better prepared you will be to take care of your baby. I recommend The Nursing Mother’s Companion if you are planning on breastfeeding. Remember there is no baby formula out there that can replace the wonderful benefits of breastfeeding. Another great pregnancy book is What to Expect When You’re Expecting
. You will find month to month information, tips, support and advice about what is going on with your body and your growing baby.

Hi.
I am a midwife in Newport News, Virginia.
I serve around 150-200 moms each year.
We provide home and birth center deliveries but we also have a free clinic that reaches MANY moms who are just learning about better nutrition and better products!
We like to offer our moms samples and info on products that they SHOULD be using.
Do you have any samples, brochures, info that I can give to the moms that I serve?
Thanks so much!
