Making Angels And Writing Names In The Sand

Miami, with its tropical climate, is perfect for spending days at the beach. I have the privilege of living right by the ocean and this summer I am determined to get advantage of my beautiful backyard. It’s just wonderful!

I grew up by the ocean in Peru as well. I remember many memorable days at the beach. I loved walking with my mom by the ocean and writing our names in the sand. There is nothing like enjoying the amazing beauty nature has to offer. The beach in Miami is a little different.  Miami smells like the tropics: hot, humid, and breezy……..very breezy sometimes.

The smell of the tropics reminds me it is time to go to the beach. We are really enjoying the weather already by doing super fun activities. Making Sand Angels and then writing our names by the ocean is definitely  one of our favorite things to do.

Making Angels And Writing Names In The Sand

Step 1.- Go to the beach and choose a good spot right by the ocean. Make sure you have sunblock, water and towels.  Baby is too little to make angels or write her name but she enjoys watching us. Look how happy she is.

Step 2.- Find a palm tree and pick up a fallen leaf to be able to write your name. If you can’t find a leaf, any stick, or even your own fingers will work. My son decided to write his name using his own fingers. He thinks it is pretty cool.

Step 3.- Make a sand angel by lying on the sand and move your arms and legs up and down. My son loves making sand angels.

Step 4.- Write your name next to the sand angel you just created. We practice our letters in English and Spanish. This is also a great summer activity to remember everything he learned in school and be ready for the next year.

Step 5.- Take a picture of your name. It looks beautiful! You can frame it and hang it on your wall. I think this is such a good picture and a great memory of your child writing his/her name in the sand.

After an afternoon of fun at the beach, we got home tired and all covered with sand.
