When it comes to soothing a tired and stressed-out soul, you really can’t beat a day at the beach! Even science agrees. Read on to learn about the benefits of spending your vacation kicking back in the sand, plus check out some of my favorite quotes about beach life throughout.
THERE’S TRULY NOTHING LIKE THE BEACH TO SOOTHE YOUR SOUL!
Living in Miami isn’t without its challenges, especially in the hottest months of the year (which we’re smack-dab in the middle of right now). Sure, our electric bills are higher thanks to constantly running AC. Yes, you really need a “frizzy hair, don’t care” outlook on life unless you want to spend hours attached to a straightening iron. Still, every last bit of scorching heat and sticky humidity is 100% worth it for one huge reason: the beach!
Unlike my friends up north who can only hit the beach during the summer, every season is beach season here! I love that I can walk barefoot through the sand and watch the waves roll in almost every single day of the year. I wouldn’t trade that for all the cool weather and low humidity in the world.
Honestly, I could go on and on (and on and on and…you get the point) about how much I love the beach! Don’t take my word for it, though! Below, I’m sharing some of my favorite quotes about the beach that beautifully demonstrate why you should love it, too!
Inspiring Quotes About Beach Life That Really Just Say It All
If these inspirational beach quotes don’t make you want to book your next vacation along the ocean, I don’t know what will!
The beach is the ultimate “simple treasure” in life….
By now, you know that I’m all about cherishing the simple pleasures and small moments that make life so worth living. This quote really captures how the beach lets me do just that!
It inspires imagination and brings joy to your soul
From classic writers like Melville and Hemingway to famous painters like Degas, the beach served as inspiration for many of history’s greatest artists. You don’t have to dream of penning the next best-seller or seeing your masterpiece hang in the Louvre, to reap the rewards of a beach vacation, though. Just watching your children’s imagination spring to life as they shape sand into a creative castle is enough to bring eternal joy to your soul.
Beaches help us rediscover our true selves…
When life gets so overwhelming that you feel like you’re losing yourself in all the craziness, an afternoon at the beach watching the waves roll in is just what you need to find yourself again.
…and how to embrace being alone
As I’ve said before, if you learn to like being alone, you’ll never be lonely again! There’s no better place in the world to embrace solitude than the beach.
So, take this advice from the ocean…
This is my favorite beach quote of all, and not just because I love a cute pun. It’s amazing advice that we all need to hear. Plus, you can follow it even if you can’t get to the beach right now.
The ocean also inspires plenty of short quotes and cute sayings, too! In fact, I think there are more t-shirt-worthy beach sayings than there are about anything or anyplace else on the planet. Some of my favorites:
- Sunshine is the best medicine.
- Life is better in flip-flops.
- Salty hair, don’t care!
- All you need is a good dose of vitamin sea.
- Sandy toes. Sunkissed nose.
- Life’s a beach, find your wave.

Scientific Benefits of Going to the Beach
I recently read an article in Inc. magazine that explored the scientific reasons for spending a day by the ocean. Here are a few highlights:
- A 2013 study in England found that participants “reported significantly better health when they lived nearer the coast.” That includes both mental and physical health.
- In 2015, researchers found that being surrounded by the color blue – like the shade of the ocean- actually makes us feel less “blue” mentally.
- The ocean can help manage depression, according to at least one study, thanks to the bright light, sound of the waves, and the dense ions in the air.
- While not technically “scientific evidence,” alternative health experts claim that walking barefoot in the sand helps you feel more “grounded.” I can definitely attest to that!
Bottom line, there’s truly no better way to forget about a bad day than by spending your day at the beach! The sand, the sun, and the surf all combine to create a perfect environment that’s sure to make even your worst days seem like distant memories. Take Ralph Waldo Emerson’s advice. “Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.”
