Parenting teens is hard as it is, but parenting teens who are active in sports comes with its own set of unique challenges, especially when it comes to making sure they have the physical edge needed to compete. A healthy diet and lifestyle goes a long way towards giving them that edge, but sometimes they need a little extra boost, especially when it comes to supporting growth. That’s where the TruHeight Kit comes into play. Keep reading to learn about our experiences with this science-backed growth supplement!
TruHeight Kit Review: A Parent’s Perspective on Supporting Growth
As anyone parenting boys knows, the early years of teen development can be brutal. Yes, yes, I know that adolescence and puberty is hard on ALL kids…not just boys. But I do think that our sons face challenges that our daughters don’t (and vice-versa, of course), especially when it comes to their height. There’s just all of this weird pressure on boys to be tall, which is crazy to me because it’s not like muscle mass, where they can say “ I think I’ll start working out at the gym and build a few more inches!”
When your child competes actively in sports, the height challenges take on a whole new meaning. As I’ve mentioned before, my son Matias is an extremely dedicated tennis player. He trains for over two hours every single day and competes in tournaments almost every weekend.
When Matias turned 13 this past December, they moved him out of the 12 and under category to the 14 and under group. Let me tell you, some of those kids are HUGE! My goodness, some are even taller than my husband! I know boys hit puberty at different stages. In our case, Matias is still in the early stages, which is good because he still has time to grow, but also challenging for him because, again, he’s competing against kids that are often twice his size.
Since we’re still in the early stages of development, we decided to try the TruHeight Kit to give Matias a little extra boost. Before we dive into my review, I just want to make something super clear- these supplements are designed to support healthy growth. No supplement in the world will make your child grow 6” overnight. That said, a healthy diet and the right nutrients can help “unlock” your child’s full growth potential. I’ll explain how and why in a moment, but I wanted to make sure we’re all on the same page with expectations for what TruHeight can and cannot do. Also, as always, none of this is medical advice, talk to your doctor about any concerns that you have about your child’s growth, etc. and so on. You know the drill by now. 🙂
Our TruHeight Kit Regimen
As I mentioned, we went with the kit from TruHeight, which includes a protein shake for the morning, growth gummies after dinner, and sleep gummies before bed. Let me go over our experience so far, then I’ll tell you a bit more about the kit itself, the ingredients, and so on.
We started the 6-month regimen in mid-February. So far he has been taking them all and he has no issues. A month into the regimen, Matias has shown a slight increase in height, approximately 1/8 inch (he started at 5’, and is now 5’ ⅛”). I know that doesn’t sound like much, but the website explains that it can take up to 3 to 6 months to see results, so I think it’s a step in the right direction.
One thing I did notice almost right away, though, is that he sleeps way better at night with the sleep gummies. Sleep quality plays an important role in growing, so that’s positive right there. He usually goes to bed around 9:30 to 10 and wakes up 7 to 7:30. I really wish bedtime was earlier, but between his training schedule, school and homework, it’s simply impossible.
Another thing that I noticed is that he has more energy overall during the day, which as you can imagine is definitely a MAJOR plus given his physically demanding routine.
Oh, and the flavor is outstanding. The gummies are especially delicious. The shakes come in vanilla and chocolate. Matias prefers the chocolate but the vanilla is “okay.” I recommend blending them with milk and fruits, though. If you stir with just a spoon it doesn’t really dissolve properly. My son is picky so he won’t drink the entire glass if it’s not blended just right. They do sell a shaker on their website if you don’t have time for blending. Just pour everything into it and shake it up. Very convenient when we’re on the go to tournaments and whatnot.
As far as side effects go, we haven’t noticed any. TruHeight’s website states that they haven’t received any reports of negative side effects since they began their company. That said, if your teens have any preexisting medical conditions or take medications, it’s a good idea to talk to their doctor.
TruHeight Kit Product Details
The TruHeight Kit comes with three TruHeight products:
- Kids’ Growth Protein Shake (vanilla or chocolate)
- TruHeight Growth (you can choose capsules or gummies)
- TruHeight Sleep Gummies
The Protein Shake offers balanced nutrition and helps in healthy weight gain and hormone release. It’s packed with 16 grams of protein and an optimal blend of vitamins and minerals, including zinc, potassium, vitamins A, B, and C, and only 2g of sugar.
The Growth gummies are designed to support growing bones, so they contain calcium and vitamin D. They also include a mix of natural herbs, including ashwagandha, that support the pituitary gland in secreting natural growth hormones.
Sleep Gummies are exactly what they sound like, gummies designed to help support healthy sleep. They’re made with Ashwagandha, L-Theanine, and Lemon Balm to manage stress levels, along with a low dosage of melatonin to improve the quality of sleep.
Clinical Studies & Other Scientific Evidence
TruHeight’s effectiveness isn’t just anecdotal; it’s backed by clinical studies. According to these studies:
- 86.66% of participants saw an increase in height growth after a 6-month clinical pilot trial.
- The treatment group experienced 32.63% more growth compared to the control group.
- A 43.91% increase in concentrations of Collagen X, a biomarker linked to activity in the growth plates, was observed, suggesting enhanced growth velocity.
Beyond TruHeight’s own studies, there is also a ton of research supporting the ingredients themselves. For example, ashwagandha studies show that the herb may be beneficial especially to athletes by enhancing “physical performance, including strength and oxygen use during exercise.” L-glutamine and L-arginine are both amino acids. If you recall from high school biology, amino acids are literally the building blocks for our entire bodies.
UPDATE: One Year Later…
I promised you an update, right? It’s been just under a year since we started using TruHeight. Matias grew 2+ inches during that time, but I really saw the speed in growth after taking this supplement for 6+ months. Right away we noticed that it helps with his energy levels and sleep. A shake in the morning helps him get going, gummies with lunch keep his energy up, and the sleep gummies before bedtime help him sleep better.
Final Thoughts & Where to Buy
One thing that I want to make super clear before we say goodbye is that these products do not contain any hormones themselves. They also won’t make your kids grow beyond their actual biological growth potential. In other words, if your kids’ genes and biology say, “you have the potential to grow to 5 ’10””, no supplement in the world is going to make them grow to 6′ 4”.
TruHeight does, however, help unlock that potential for the maximum growth that your kids already have within their bodies by providing the optimum nutrition and combination of clinically proven nutrients necessary to do so. In my opinion, it really helps maximize this special time of growth and really make the most of it. I’m looking forward to seeing what the results look like in 6 months from now.
