From friends who truly respect you as much as you respect them to loved ones who brighten up even the cloudiest day, I’m sharing the types of people everyone should have in their lives. Keep reading to learn who they are and why they’re so important.
These Are the Types of People Everyone Should Have in Their Life
As I’ve said before, the older I get the smaller my inner circle of trust becomes. I don’t have the patience to deal with people who live for drama or to drag others down. Honestly, who does have the energy for that nonsense??? These last few years have pushed so many of us to the breaking point, and I think we’ve all just had enough drama.
Instead of focusing my energy on haters and other negative people, I’m really putting more of it into making sure I’m surrounding myself with the kind of people I REALLY want in my life, like those below. As usual, I’ve also included some of my favorite inspirational quotes about the best kind of people to have in your life. Enjoy!
1. People who respect you even when you’re not around
The best kind of people to have in your life are those who respect you just as much when you’re not around as they do when you are. Don’t surround yourself with people who talk about you behind your back.
2. Friends who are willing to tell you hard truths
Surround yourself with people who are willing to tell you the truth, even if it’s something you don’t want to hear. We all need friends who are as comfortable letting us know that we’re being unreasonable as they are telling us we have spinach in our teeth.
3. People who love you for you, and not what you can do for them
Real friends and loved ones continue to love you even if you can’t do anything for them. If someone vanishes on you the moment you stop being “useful” to them, walk away. Life is too short to put your energy into people who clearly only want you around when you’re doing something for them.
4. Someone who believes in you, even when you’re struggling to believe in yourself
We all need at least one person (preferably more!) that believes in us even when we’re having a really hard time believing in ourselves. Someone to cheer us on when we feel like we just can’t win, or who helps us see the sun through even the darkest clouds.
5. Passionate people who are undeniably themselves
The best types of people to be around are people who are unabashedly and undeniably themselves. We all need that one friend who marches to the beat of their own metaphorical drummer. Who never apologizes for liking what they like, never feels the need to explain themselves to haters, and just plain has an incredible zest for life.
6. Friends that I can count on to be good people
Being a good and kind person is incredibly important to me, and I expect others in my life to feel the same way. I’m not looking for perfection. I’m far from perfect myself. We all slip up. We all have our moments where we’re not quite as kind as we should be. But overall, I want to surround myself with people who really try to be good and decent human beings.
7. People who make you feel safe and comfortable
Everyone deserves someone a “safe space” person, someone who always helps them feel more secure and comfortable. Someone who will hold you when you’re scared and help chase away bad dreams. Find that person and hold on tight to them. They’re the best types of people to have in your life.
8. Full-time friends who don’t just treat me like an “option”
As I’ve said before, don’t give part-time people a full-time position in your life. Surround yourself with people who don’t treat you like you’re just another option. That doesn’t mean that you should expect everyone to drop everything whenever you call. Our loved ones do have their own lives and problems to deal with. But if someone constantly shows that they don’t value you, they have no place in your life.
9. People who actually want ME in THEIR Lives
This ties in with the last one, but I think it’s important enough to stand on its own. The best types of people to have in your life are people who actually WANT you in THEIRS. Don’t waste your time and energy trying to get someone to like you. If they don’t love you for who you are and want you around, they’re not worth your effort. You deserve better.
You only get one life, so don’t waste it with the wrong types of people
I’ll leave you with one last quote that’s a good reminder. “YOU HAVE THIS ONE LIFE! How do you wanna spend it? Apologizing? Regretting? Questioning? Hating yourself? Running after people who don’t see you? Be brave. Believe in yourself. Do what feels good. Take risks. You have this one life. Make yourself proud.”
