Think about these smart tricks that are easy to remember next time you buy a watermelon. I honestly did not know about these tricks before, and they really are useful. I used to be so disappointed when I will get a tasteless watermelon at the supermarket. No more bad watermelons for me from now on!
1. Color
Light watermelons have not ripened long on the vine, so always choose darker green ones, with lighter stripes.
2. Weight
Watermelons are mostly made of water, so if your fruit is light when you lift it, it is probably dry. Therefore, always pick the heavy ones. They will be juicier and naturally very sweet.
3. Look for the yellow spot
Watermelons develop a splotch where they rest on the ground. When this splotch is creamy yellow, it’s ripe. See the difference? The one on the right is the perfect ready watermelon.
4. Shape and shine
