Turn Junk Food Into Healthy Food 3 Easy Recipes for your family. Real food is always the best choice!
The other day I was thinking of all the junk food we eat. Food that contains dangerous preservatives, unhealthy oils, GMOS, hormones and chemicals. But we can control that by making our own meals, buying organic, and knowing where our food comes from. Remember there is nothing more important than cooking at home using fresh ingredients for the overall good health of your family.
One way to stay on track and feel good about what you are eating, is to make your own junk food. I am always thinking of ways to incorporate fresh ingredients and make my meals as healthy as possible. I love transforming unhealthy meals into healthy choices like my Chicken Quinoa Chaufa for example. By replacing rice for quinoa, I added lots of nutrition and made the dish a healthy family dinner option.
Most people love junk food. Ask my almost 5 year old son what is his favorite food and he will say pasta or a burger with fries. Of course it is ok to enjoy some junk food once in a while, but for the most part, we need to eat healthy. We really need to make an effort and teach new generations healthy eating habits. I can’t let my kids eat junk food every week and this is why I came up with homemade ideas that we all really enjoy.
I am going to show you three popular junk food meals and how to turn them into healthy meals. Don’t worry, it may seem like a lot of work and time, but the recipes are pretty easy and won’t take longer than 30 minutes. Choosing good ingredients and cooking from scratch will turn junk food into healthy food.
You will feel good about the food choices you are making and your family will benefit from eating nutritious food. Give it a try! Oh, and I forgot to mention the best part: it tastes better if you make it yourself.
Turn Junk Food Into Healthy Food 3 Easy Recipes
1.Chicken Nuggets.- Chicken nuggets are always a huge hit with kids. Little ones love them because they are a great finger food and very easy to eat. But a chicken nugget is not a healthy choice. It is actually one of the most processed foods and sadly, it is targeted to children. How can you turn them into something healthy and nutritious? Try making your own Chicken Nuggets and serve real organic chicken! You can also make delicious and super moist Chicken Cutlets and use cutters for fun shapes for the kids. My Chicken Cutlets recipe is tasty, healthy and a better option than store-bought.
2. Mac & Cheese. My son loves pasta and he is always asking me for pasta dishes. We try to limit pasta to once a week but sometimes pasta is easy to make ,so I thought of alternatives and came up with really good ideas. Have you tried spaghetti squash? It is so delicious and a great alternative to pasta. You also have quinoa, whole wheat and gluten free pasta options. My favorite options are quinoa and red lentil pasta. My Mac And Cheese recipe uses fresh ingredients and it is a much healthier choice than boxed mac & cheese. Ditch the boxes and make your own food. Its’s easy!
3.Burgers with fries. Who doesn’t love a good burger with some french fries? If you want to make it healthier, you can serve oven baked burgers and skip the bread with some delicious carrot fries or zucchini fries. Baked grass-fed burgers come out moist and full of flavor. You won’t have to fry or make a mess anymore. You will also add nutritious veggies that even picky eaters will like. This meal is so simple, uses a couple of ingredients and you only bake so there is no mess involved. Next time you want a quick meal, give it a try. You could use ground turkey, beef, or chicken to make your burgers.
